Well, after getting accommodation for the night at Hveravellir (we didn't book in advance) we were quite excited at the prospect of maybe catching an aurora last night.
The forecast was for moderate activity, so we went to sleep at 8pm, then woke up at midnight and went out with our camera gear. It was cold, and a bit breezy, but we persisted, and what luck! Half and hour to 45 minutes of waiting around later, we had a 20 minute northern light show, which is our first experience of seeing an aurora!
Dylan and I snapped and snapped away, and I know this isn't as awesome as many others but I'm so excited that I managed to catch something!!
